Bringing together aviation,
education and community
Vermont Aviators Association is an educational non-profit 501(c)(3) organization made up of local Vermont pilots and flight instructors. The goal of our organization is to provide a comprehensive online resource to the residents of Vermont for aviation information, education, training and events. We share a love of everything aviation and we hope to inspire our fellow Vermonters of all ages to get involved in aviation at their local airports, flight schools and training centers to experience the never-ending thrill, challenge, reward and pure joy of flight.

Did you know?
Vermont is a state filled with a rich aviation history. Did you know that 10,000 Vermonters traveled to the Caledonia State Fairgrounds in September, 1910 to watch barnstormer Charles Willard fly in a Curtiss bi-plane as the first “sustained heavier than air flight in Vermont”, or that Charles Lindbergh visited Springfield, Vermont in the “Spirit of St. Louis” on July 26, 1927 after completing the first solo, non-stop transatlantic flight from Long Island, New York to Paris, France?
Events
The beautiful landscape of Vermont plays host to aviation-themed events and festivals throughout the year. From Vermont Aviator Association “Fly-Ins” to statewide aviation events, you can find an event nearby to entertain the entire family.

Why We Fly
“After midnight, the moon set, and I was alone with the stars. I have often said that the lure of flying is the lure of beauty, and I need no other flight to convince me that the reason flyers fly, whether they know it or not, is the esthetic appeal of flying.”
— Amelia Earhart

Education
Aviation College Programs in Vermont
Vermont Technical College • Bachelor of Science
Professional Pilot Technology Program
Williston Campus
201 Lawrence Place | Williston, VT 05495
If you are committed and passionate about flying airplanes, come fly with the Vermont Tech Professional Pilot Technology program. We’re the first college to offer an Aviation degree in the state of Vermont, and we hold our own on a national level too. This program will have you in the air during your first semester and offers the option to complete all 7 FAA certificates and ratings. Gain valuable experience completing internships or paid employment for an airline in the unique Vermont and New England flying terrain. You will be flying with career pilots that maintain their long-term industry connections, increasing your chances for employment opportunities.
Still up in the air? Consider that the students in the Professional Pilot program can become Certified Flight Instructors by their junior year and graduate with typically 500 or more flight hours already under their belts. That flight time makes graduates highly valued in the industry. Vermont Tech is authorized by the FAA to certify pilot graduates for the Restricted Airline Transport Pilot (RATP). The authorization is highly advantageous as certified graduates can be hired as professional airline pilots that much sooner, creating a fast track to a career doing what they love.

Enthusiasts
What does it mean to be an AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) pilot? For many of us, it means taking the controls of an aircraft and living out a dream that humans have pursued throughout the ages. For some, it means an aspiration to learn to fly, and for still others it simply means an unbridled enthusiasm for aviation and a desire to share it with others.
We take to the skies for many reasons, and are driven by motivations as varied as we are; while some of us fly to further business goals and stimulate the economy, others relish the exhilaration and the beauty that come with experiencing the world from a different perspective. While our community is remarkably diverse, there is one common idea that is shared by all AOPA pilots—a love of flight.
